by robbie50, Nov 15, 2008 04:00PM
I had a 4 valve CABG, which went well, now I am having chronic upper stomch bloating with severe pain. It appears that my doctors have/are trying everything to ease to pain, bbut a solution have not being found...yet. Cpould it be scar tissue?, Heart failure?, Reflux? I am in so much pain writing this is very difficult, but I am looking for answers!

Some patients after cabg surgery develop hiatal or abdominal hernias.  That's what this sound like to me.  Also, keep in mind that some of the vagal nerves that control gastric and intestinal motility run in the chest in front of the esophagus.  They may have been damaged or injured.  They usually recover.  I don't think that this is heart failure because you would have other symptoms.  Reflux definitely goes with hiatal hernias.
