Painful Testicle after being Hit With Paintball

My left testicle is having a painful episode, the pain comes and goes and is worse at night. there is an obvious area where you can see swelling or a dent or something. Five months ago I was shot in the left testicle with a paintball. It really didn't hurt too much, I actually could bear it( without trying to be tough guy)it was minimal. I did experience off an on sensation in the same area since.
Yesterday I did some heavy lifting, and did not do anything else out of the ordinary. I began to feel some pain right where I had gotten hit with the paintball. When I examined the area I could see that the shape was not like the right side. It just had a small area that looked indented. Could something get wrapped around? I imagine the paintball could have done something. what kind of Doctor would deal with this? I plan on getting it checked out but need to know where to start.

I would have the scrotum imaged. Any type of testicular trauma can lead to anatomical injury that can cause the symptoms.
A scrotal ultrasound would be a good initial test. It can look for torsion, cysts, hydroceles, varicoceles as well as testicular cancer.
Your personal physician can order this test. If the symptoms continue, a urology referral is recommended.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
