Urethral Stent

I have a stent in my urethra to keep it open from 20 year old radiation scarring. Scar tissue intrudes into the stent so that it becomes blocked and must be replaced. Replacement is now required every four months and I start to have signs of poor kidney drainage before that time is up.
Are there better than the usual mesh stents?
What else could I consider?

Unfortunately, there is not too many options. Many of the stent options are normally permanent, however if scarring is present, it can block the stent.
The more invasive option would be open urethral reconstruction. However, whether this is feasible or not would depend on the extent and location of the stricture.
These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
