I notice blood in my semen after having sex.for about a week i have some sligth pain when i bend over,as if i could break wind it would go away.i have no other problems.every thing else works just fine.there are no pains in doing any thing else.i also have been taking alot of protein and different vatimals.what is this? oh,yes l'am a 43 yr power lifter.

Blood in the semen has a variety of causes - most of them benign.  



However, various infections and cancers can lead to blood in the semen - and should be evaluated.  



A urinalysis can be done to look for infection.  I would also consider imaging the prostate with a transrectal ultrasound to ensure there is no evidence of cancer.  Finally, a cystoscopy can be considered to image and evaluate the bladder.



These options can be discussed with your personal urologist.



Followup with your personal physician is essential.
