Possible Nerve Damageto Glans Penis

by IchLeideViel, Feb 20, 2006 12:00AM
I began taking penis enlargement pills that contained yohimbe about 3 months ago.  Along with the pills, the company instructed me to do penis exercises that consisted of grabbing the head of the penis and tugging firmly for 5-10 minutes at 30 second intervals.  I did this for about two months with no problem at all.  Then, after masturbating once about three weeks ago, I noticed that the sensations of orgasm were severely diminished.  I waited a few days and tried again, but had the same result.  Upon inspection of my Glans I noticed that tactile sensation in general was somewhat diminished (whether erect or not). I have since stopped the pills and exercises, but am worried that I may have caused some damage to the nerves that generate orgasm and general tactile sensations. Take note, direct pressing into the glans causes very little sensation, but stroking something across it produces feeling.  Also, I can tell the difference between hot and cold water, except for on the sides of the tip of the glans.  The broad top of the glans is most responsive to touch, but the sides produce very little feeling unless pinched.  Some nerve damage seems obvious, but its not complete.  Is there any way for such damage to repair?  Can stimulating the damaged nerves increase their probability of healing?  Would increasing blood flow to the glans, via hot water bath, etc., help in healing?  Also, every other function of the penis is normal; I urinate properly, achieve normal erections, and have normal ejaculation.  The only difference is that I can't really feel orgasms any more... am I doomed to never again experience sexual pleasure?  Thank you for your help!

Difficult to say without examination.

You can consider tests for metabolic diseases that may lead to nerve dysfunction.  This can include blood tests looking for diabetes, vitamin b-12 levels or thyroid tests.

A referral to a neurologist can be considered to look for nerve dysfunction.  Electrodiagnostic tests (i.e. an EMG) can be considered for these avenues.

Some infection can lead to the symptoms you are describing.  Urine tests looking for STDs as well as a UTI can be considered.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
