The pain

Hello,

First let me start off by saying thank you for your time. A couple of months ago I started experiencing pain while urinating. I really didn't think anything of it at all because it wouldn't burn everytime. The number of times I went, and still go, to the bathroom hasn't changed at all. I read up on the symptoms for UTI and the only experience I've had is the burning. I'm not a big water drinker at all but sometimes I'll drink water and the burning will stop for a nice long time.  Also on occasion I tend not to go to the bathroom right away when I have to go so I'll hold it for a while and then go usually because I'll be so busy. I'm not quite sure if that last statement I made has anything to with it I just wanted to give you as much information as possible.

Also about 8 months ago I had sex with a girl of unknown status. I will get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia just to clear the air but then again the only symptom I'm having even of those two is the burning. Right now I would really like your opinion on the matter. I guess the main question I'm asking you is do you think that with just the occasional burning that could it be a sign of UTI, gonorrhea, chlamydia or even something else??

Once again thank you for your time.

Infection would be the most common cause of your symptoms.  Getting tested for various diseases like STDs would be a good start.  You can also have the prostate examinated via a digital rectal exam to evaluate for prostatitis.  If the symptoms continue, a transrectal ultrasound can be considered to rule out an abscess.

If infection has been completely ruled out, you can consider anatomical abnormalities such as a urethral stricture or urethral polyp - each of which can cause pain when urinating.  A cystoscopy would be the best test to evaluate for these conditions.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
