Stone even though KUB was negative

last week i went to the doctor because of severe pain in the right kidney/ureter area.  the doctor sent me for a KUB xray which was negative but i still have severe pain that feels like kidney stone pain.  is it possible to have a stone eventhough the KUB is negative????????  the urine dip test also didnt show infection but there was blood.

Yes, it is possible to have a stone when the KUB is negative.  There are certain types of stones that are not seen with a KUB.  The best test would be a non-contrast CT scan.  This should be considered if a kidney stone is still suspected.
