Question Title: One large and lower testicle

Forum: The Urology Forum
Topic: Benign Prostate Disease

One of my testicles is bigger than the other and also lower. I think it happened
because of excessive masturbation over a couple of years. Is this a disorder and
may lead to other diseases in the future. I am afraid to consult a doctor.

Dear Wong
Thank you for your question.
You should never be afraid to consult a doctor about your health, maybe embarrassed a little. People are not born experts on their own bodies and that is why the medical field has been an age old profession. We doctors and medical personnel work for you with your health as our goal.
Testicles are usually about the same size. They rapidly increase in size at puberty to about 20-25 c.c.s. Diseases like mumps orchididtis ( the mumps virus affecting the testicle) or varicoceles ( varicose veins of the cord) can stunt testicular growth. When one side only is affected, there is disparity in testicular size. Fertility and masculinity is not a problem as long as you have one normal testicle. Tumors, epididymal infections and cyst can make one testicle feel larger than the other. It is difficult to make a diagnosis without being able to examine you over the internet therefore I recommend seeing your doctor for a check-up .
More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that you may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.

This information is provided for general medical education purposes only. Please consult your physician for diagnostic and treatment options pertaining to your specific medical condition.
Sincerely;
HFHS-M.D. MS
