Dear Cynthia
As a urological doctor I will attempt to describe of this nephrological disease.
Glomerulonephritis is a disease of the filtering membrane of the kidney and there are several different subtypes with varying treatments and prognoses. The body usually “identifies” the membrane as foreign and attacks it with antibodies . Diagnosis is made by renal biopsy. Nephrologist treat this disease with observation,if not severe, or with sometimes with steroids. Please go to the Medhelp forum site search and search the words glomerulonephritis, minimal disease, focal glomerulosclerosis and nephritis for more information.
More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that you may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.
