Question Title: Indentation on left side of penis.Forum: The Urology Forum

Posted by C. B. on May 30, 1999 at 19:24:51 I have noticed lately that I have a slight (but noticeable) indentation on the left side of my penis, about mid-penis. I notice my penis start to curve during an erection, but then it straightens out and the indentation is barely seen. I feel a slight pain at the base of the penis and around the scrotum during the erection and after ejaculation. I feel no lumps, just a slight concaveness. I also have what I think is a burst vessel just under the skin on the base of the penis, on the top side. It is very dark purple/brown about the size of a pencil eraser or smaller. I have never had any type of melanoma or sarcoma before, so I don't think it's that. Is my overactive sex/masturbation a possible cause for all this or is it something more serious?

= Dear C.B. Thanks for your questions. Your differential diagnosis includes Peyronnie’s disease, Kaposi's Sarcoma and Mondor’s disease. A curving penis during erection is typical for Peyronnie’s. Please use the site search function on this forum and type in Peyronnie’s disease. There is alot of information here. Kaposi's Sarcoma used to be very common in AIDS patients. You may want to check your status if you have risk factors. Mondor’s disease is thrombophlebitis of the penis. It is usually due to over vigorous maturbationand is very painful. Conservative therapy ie. warm compresses, abstinence and aspirin like products can help. Now it is your turn, see doctor for a physical exam and diagnosis. It will provide treatment and peace of mind. More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that you may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.
