Kidney stones and hypertension are common diagnoses, and often develop completely separately. Studies have tried to determine if one treatment for kidney stones, extracorporeal shock wave lithotrypsy (ESWL) causes hypertension, or not. These studies have basically inconclusive in this regard. Hypertension is a possible outcome of long term obstruction of a kidney from kidney stones.
To determine if your kidney stone or its treatment is related to your hypertention may be impossible. The timing of the two diagnoses may shed light on the question.
