Question Title: FSGS and Pregnancy

Topic: Kidney/Urinary Stones

I have been suffering from proteinuria ranging from 1.2 to 1.9 since 1997. My kidney specialist said that I have lost 5% functioning of my kidney and I was recently diagnosed with FSGS after a kidney biospy. I do have foamy urine but no IgM was indicated in biospy only some focal and segmental damage. A kidney ultrasound showed that my kidneys are normal size with some scarring possible due to hypertension. I don't have lupus (ANA negative). My pressure started to rise the same time I found out about the high protein in my urine.

Anyway, I found out I'm 6 weeks pregnant. My husband and I are happy since we lost our twins 5 months ago due to hypertension, anemia, proteinuria. My kidney specialist just recommended me to continue my ACE Inhibitor. Due to my pregnancy, doctor changed it from Vasaretic (10/25 tabs--1 daily) to Altenol (50mg with 1 per day).

Can I take Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor (medicine for my proteinuria) during my pregnancy? I just found out about it recently. Are Kidney steroids safe during pregnancy? I feel like nothing is being done while the functioning of my kidneys continue to dimish.

I also read about the Hopkins Institute's recent study of low protein diet to reverse kidney damage if damage is in its early stage. I am trying to lower the amount of meat and beans I eat during my pregnancy. I need the dairy protein for the baby.

Help, I would like your advice. I am taking the Altenol to maintain blood pressure, hemocycte for my anemmia, 1 baby aspirin to thin the blood, evening primerose oil (litic? acid)and 4 tums to prevent early pregnancy. I am not taking anything for my kidneys. What do you suggest?

Thank you for any information!!!
