Question Title: Prostate infection and link to prostate cancerForum: The Urology Forum

At 28 I was told today by my physician that I have a prostate infection. My question is: is this an indicator of things to come? Do I have a higher chance of getting prostate cancer?
Dear Rusty Thanks for your question . There is no strong literature which links prostate infections to prostate cancer. It is recommended to begin prostate screening with a digital rectal exam and PSA yearly at the age of 50. If you have a positive family history or are African American you should start at the age of 40. This information is provided for general medical information purposes only. Please consult your physician for diagnostic and treatment options pertaining to your specific medical condition.
