Question Title: Stone in Kindney = whay kind of symtoms?

Forum: The Urology Forum
Topic: Kidney Stones

A stone, 4.5mm, is located in my left kidney.

What symtoms should/could there be?

Mark

Dear Mark; Thanks for posting.
Kidney stones are thought to cause pain when they obstruct the flow of urine but this is not always so. Some have back / flank pain when tests like an IVP(intravenous pyelogram or Ultrasound show no blockage of urine flow. A few people have no pain even though they unknowingly have lost a kidney due to complete obstruction by a stone. Blood in the urine at least microscopically is also the norm.
More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that you may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.
