I'm having occurences of pain and pressure behind my left eye. I don't have blurred vision while the pain is happening but I do sometimes have it a day later. I have MS and have been told by my neuro that I tested as at the area under my left eyebrow and above the eye while I am sleeping. Is this all right to do? Many thanks for your time. This usually improves on its own though intravenous steroids may be given. People with MS are more likely to have recurrences and more residual vision loss. The history you give is not classic for acute optic neuritis. However, since you have MS and you have a history of previous optic neuritis, you need a full examination by an ophthalmologist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. It is very common for people to rub their eyes at night. This is usually not a problem in healthy eyes. This information is provided for medical education purposes only. Please consult your ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment options. Sincerely, HFHS MD-NI
