Question Title: no lens, no iris - any contacts available that block light completely ?

Forum: The Eye Care Forum

My husband had an eye accident last year. He has a scleral buckle and no lens or iris. We are looking for information for contacts that are extremely strong prescription and also for contacts that block light completely. She gave him a black out contact which he can still see through enough that office lights hurt. She doesn't seem to have more information or other sources of contact lens.

They do make contact lenses to block out some of the light and would be useful for traumatic aniridia (loss of iris). You will likely need to see an optometrist that specializes in difficult contact lens fittings. The company that produces these is Wesley Jesson. Good luck.
