Acute Jaundice

Re: Affects of Jaundice on the mental state of a patient

Can you please help. I need to know if my grandmother could have been confused before she died of jaundice.

I need to find out if a high level of acute jaundice can cause confusion or affect the mental capacity of a patient.

My grandmother was 96 years old passed away abroad on the 18th August 2001 with the following levels in her blood. She was too frail to be operated on.

Could you please comment on whether it is possible that the levels in the table below are high enough to possibly cause confusion or any other affect on the mental state?

Could this be classified as bilirubin encephalopathy or kernicterus and how could it affect a patient.

Could you please refer me to any publication shows how biliruben affects the brain or guide me on where I could find sound medical information or a Doctor on the above who may be willing to help privately.

Your help will be much appreciated.
