by msvideo, Feb 25, 2006 12:00AM
my 14 year old has had 3 operations to reattach her retina. none of which worked now the eye is geowing to many blood vessels. we did as was suggested and took her to ochsner clinic in new orleans, we were told there no hope to save the eye, retina too scared from the lazer eye is damaged from the operations, he suggested the eye sheild that looks like her other eye. what about this?  also if any one knows about a web site where she talk to other people about this right now she thinks she is the only one at this age to lose her sight

i am no sorry.  this is never a fun thing.  yes, neovascularization after multiple retinal surgeries has a poor prognosis, and a "prosthetic" as you describe is usually suggested.

i will look for a website or bulletin board for patients with this condition...
