Worried out of my wits

by Yorky, Jan 05, 2006 12:00AM
After thinking that my glasses needed a good cleaning I reslised that it wasn't my glasses but a problem that had suddenly appeared in my left eye.....a small tear drop shape that is just fractionally to the lower left of my central vision...but near enough to cause me problems since it started pulsating with what I term as 'noise' round the edges. It certainly wasn't there a few days ago and its causing me all sorts of anxiety problems.

I have done all the Amslar tests and cannot detect any wavy lines or distortion etc but the shape, although opaque, seems to be blank in a small area. With a little effort I can still read small print...mainly because the shape isn't exactly central. However, this makes it difficult for me to determine how transparent it is too. It looks almost like a thumbprint in some parts of the shape.

I have had floaters before and as someone said in this forum, they simply drop out sight after a while. However, this won't!!....or at least it hasn't...and I am very worried.

Of course, I have booked an appointment with an ophthalmologist but he will not be available to see me till next Thursday. So this means I have another week of mental agony to endure.

I have spent hours and hours doing research on the Internet and to tell the truth this only makes me feel worse because I am presented with all these diseases such as AMD, Macular Holes, etc etc....and I am really worried about losing my central vision. Can anyone offer me advice

likely a floater (collagen debris).  if thats what it is, it will go away but it will take MONTHS.  like 9 months.  so just b/c it hasnt gone away yet, doesnt mean its anything to panic over, and also does not mean it wont eventually go away later.

keep your appt thurs and try to de-stress in the meantime.
