Flashing lights & floaters after scleral buckle surgery

by DianeB, May 08, 2007 12:00AM
I had a scleral buckle 5 weeks ago for a chronic retinal detachment that was about 2 microns on the lower right quadrant of my eye. Haven't been able to see much and I had the patch on for until 2 weeks ago because it felt better to have that eye covered due to extremely blurry vision, seeing double and light sensitivity.  Within the last week I've occassionally noticed what appear to be "running flash of lights" across the top or my eye when my eyes are closed. This usually occurs at night after I've coughed or turned my head when in bed. I've also noticed what appear to be new floaters. They seem to be higher up than the other floaters were.  Are these symptoms something I should be concerned about?

possibly.  any new floaters or symptoms should be reported to your surgeon.
