eye pain for 6 months

by mabelsmom, May 03, 2007 12:00AM
I have had eye pain for 6 months. It felt as if I had something in my left eye. It hurts so much I have to patch my eye closed because it makes my other eye hurt because I have to blink so much. I have been to 3 eye doctors and a neurologist. they tried steroid drops, antibiotics, plugs liquid tears, allery meds.I had a nerve block because the neurologist said it was a pinched nerve in my neck,it didn't help.I tried pamelor, didn't help.It feels like my eyes are swollen. The left eye hurts the most, but if I patch either eye it makes the other eye feel o.k. I've had an M.R.I. it showed nothing. I've had migraines on the left side of my head for about 4 years. I got glitter in my eyes the night before this started, could that have anything to do with this? Please anyone who has heard of this help! it's making me nuts, and I'm afraid it will affect my sight. Is there someplace else I could go for treatment?

no.

well, these cases are hard.  nobody knows where to send you b/c no one has come up  with a definitive diagnosis yet.  eye pain is disconcerting, but if we dont have anything obvious to attribute it to, then none of us are going to know what to do with you.  in the absence eye or systemic disease it makes diagnosis difficult and management nearly impossible.

go to a large research center is my suggestion for your next step.  wills eye institute or somewhere...
