there is no such thing as a 'farsighted lens' or a 'nearsighted lens' in respect to cataract implants. did the doctor say he/she did that? i doubt they did. what you likely mean is that you came out after surgery with an Rx that was different than what you expected or were promised.
yes, the implants are usually extractable/replaceable. more difficult surgery, tho with more & higher risks. what are the risks? everything from merely 'cant get the Rx just right' to permanent blindness.
if you are merely unhappy with the result and were hoping for a different Rx or 'no Rx', then your best and most conservative bet is to just live with glasses and not risk the expense/pain/risks of explantation.
you probably need a second opinion.

"Oh sh....t!" I am pretty sure that's what the surgeon said. I can't really comment on what the risks are to explant, but some people that have posted here went to Indianapolis to have it done by a Dr. Waltz successfully.

It's not unusual that a patient came out with a different Rx that was targeted after cataract surgery. Unless your post-surgery Rx is *extremely* off the chart, your best bet is to correct it with glasses. IOL explantation entails much higher risk as the Forum OD said. Get a second opinion and make a conservative decision.

Another option might be laser vision enhancement (noninvasive and probably safer than an explant).
