Lacquer cracks and bending lines

by rotoplooker, Apr 16, 2007 12:00AM
I had posted to you before about my myopic degeneration and the distortions I was seeing. After seeing a couple of opthamologists I was EVENTUALLY told that I had a tiny serpentine lacquer crack in each eye.

I can't see either crack with both eyes open, but when I close an eye, I can see them clearly - but thankfully they do not dominate my vision and are very small watery looking patches.

1 - My vision hasn't changed at all since last summer, as far as I'm aware,  so I'm presuming that there is little or no progression of my lacquer cracks. In your experience, how do patients with lacquer cracks get on, in time?  I still think my vision is corrected to the best it has ever been in my life right now.

2 - Would you think that it is normal for a high myopic -15 in both eyes to notice a little gentle bending of vertical lines especially on something like an amsler grid (which I know tests central vision but using as an example). There are no holes in my vision, I just notice that things bend a little to the left in my left eye, and a little to the right in my right eye.  There is also a very tiny and gentle bending of horizontal lines too.  There is very little of any of this when I look with both eyes open.  Generally sqaure things tend to get a little skewed.

3 - do you think I should have a yearly dilated fundus exam or try to get a fluorescein angiogram yearly

I wear RGP lenses and have had high myopia since I was 6 or 7 I'm 31 right now.

thank you

Roto

PS sorry for posting this in the wrong place yesterday and sorry to reinagel for spoiling your post

there is no predicting this stuff.  every patient is different. i have no idea, nor does anyone else.
