Laser after scleral buckle

by jms1182, Mar 26, 2007 12:00AM
My doc is going to do a laser procedure in three weeks (3 months after buckle) to finalize the buckle surgery (to seal the outside of the area).  He said it's a quick procedure, in-and-out, done in his office.  Any info on this would be appreciated.  Do you know what this is called so I can look it up?

i assume he/you are talking about yag transscleral retinal photocoagulation.  its a method of kind of 'tacking down' loose retina or to prevent loose retina.  its really common and no big deal.

no.  if they were going to "open up your eye" it wouldnt be an in-office procedure.

he's going to dilate your pupil and shine bright lights at you.  its very short, painless and has virtually no side effects.
