Cataract surgery after RK

by malog, Mar 02, 2007 12:00AM
Dear Dr.,
Is cataract surgery 12 years after RK more difficult? My Dr. still has my prescription before surgery it is -7.25. I dont know the entire prescription off hand. It still fluctuates slightly. Sometimes in the evening I become a little nearsighted. Is fluctuation likly to be a greater problem after surgery? Is it more difficult to meaure the correct power IOL? What about a new lens made by a company called Calhoun which can possibly be adjusted after implantation? Is this lens along way off?
Thanks

yes, RK makes any and all later surgery more difficult.  Rx fluctuation should be the same after cataract surgery as before in a previous RK case...no worse fluctuation but certainly no better, either.

dont know about calhoun lenses.

The Calhoun lens is not yet in clinical trials in the U.S.
