No surgeon has sugested a problem - in the same light neither of the two surgeons that I consulted were willing to attempt an answer to my question or, alternatively, offer suggestions as to where I might look for an answer.

I felt and feel uncomfortable having the surgery done before I am confident in approaching this thing from a point of at least basic knowledge and understanding. In the past, I was told by my primary care physician: it is your body and you have a right to know the up and down sides to any procedure. He is a person whose judgement I have come to trust.
