Silver ball after buckle

by jms1182, Jan 25, 2007 12:00AM
I had my scleral buckle surgery done two weeks ago (lower right corner of right eye).  Last week I started seeing a silver ball of light circle into my vision and out again (upper left corner of right eye).  Now it is occurring on a regular basis - sometimes three times in a minute.  My doc doesn't know what it could be - possible related to the muscle.  Anyone have an explanation??!

your doctor doesnt know what it could be?  interesting.  this is actually a fairly common complaint in buckle patients.

well my 1st thought is PRESSURE PHOSPHENE.  if that were the case (which IMO it is probable) the buckle is applying pressure in a "ring" just like its supposed to, and the pressure is causing unwanted sensation of "light".  that would not be dangerous, and eventually your brain would learn to ignore it

Well, it was his assistant who saw me since he was sick, so I assume my doc would know what it was.  Thanks though, it definitely sounds like what I am experiencing.
