Gas Bubble Procedure

It has been about 9 weeks since I had scleral buckling surgery. When will the gas bubble dissolve? And when will my vision be restored?

dont know.  varies in each person.  some bubbles never resorb/dissolve.  some are removced by the surgeon...

My scleral buckling surgery was apprx. 8 years ago.



The bubble lasted apprx. 3 months before I didn't notice it anymore. Every week it seemed to get smaller and smaller.



6 months ago I had cataract surgery in the same eye. A small bubble (super-small, but 3-d looking), almost looked like a floater appeared. I believe it was the original bubble, but it's totally gone once again.

I had the same surgery in April 2006.  Every day will get better.  The gas bubble went away in about 2 weeks.  I used this forum as a sounding board alot.  Its scary not knowing.  Today I have a small cataract in that eye which probably wont be treated for a long time.  I'm 46.  The left over effects have been one large floater that is like a blur spot which floats in the vision all day.  At times it is quite distracting,  at others I'm busy and so dont notice it as much. At night my eye gets tired and sometimes a little double vision.  But, with my contacts, I'm minus 10.0 in both eyes, I can see 20/25.  I am considered a huge success for a retinal surgery.  I feel fortunate to see most days.  But, it will never be the same and sometimes that makes me sad. I focus on the positive.  Keep your head down and your spirit up!

My father had the Sclera buckling surgery for retinal detachment about two weeks ago in his left eye.  He is worried because his vision has not returned yet and I am trying to get some encouraging news from those of you out there who may have had the same deal as him.  The doc's say everything is going well and want him back to work this week, however he has double vision and can not see far in front of him.  I told him the bubble will have to work its way in.   My father works in maintenance and he paints.  He told the docs this too.  



Regardless they want him back to work this week!   What to do!!!  His symptoms ares double vision, not being able to see far ahead of him, and minor discomfort.  Any insight will help in making him feel better!

Hi everyone, I had congenital cataract surgery in Dec 2006 with complications of the sac breaking and all the debris created a mess.  My pressure would not go down so I had an emergency vitrectomy 3 days later.  
After two weeks I had 20/20 vision for 5 weeks.  I then noticed a grey area in the upper right side of my eye.  Went to my Dr immediately and was told I had a horseshoe tear, scar tissue, detached rentina and needed immediate emergency surgery again.  This time they removed the scar tissue, lasered the torn area and also all around the retina as a preventitive for future possible detachment, inserted a gas bubble and a scheral buckle.  It is now 5 weeks post op.  I still have 40% gas bubble remaining.  I had to lay on my right side for 3 weeks (or belly down if I wanted) and now only have to sleep on my right side.  My question is this, I can see pretty clear now but double vision and some glare is driving me crazy.  Did anyone experience double vision with the gas bubble and did it eventually go away.  I am so afraid that it is the buckle causing this and will have to have it removed in the future.  If that is even possible.  If the buckle caused double vision what is your recourse?  I appreciate any help or advice.  Also my eyelid still seems swollen and a little droopy.  Any thoughts?
