My husband and I have three children, our two year old is the middle child. We put all three of our children to bed at the same time. Within the last few weeks our two year old has gotten out of her bed every night. We are trying to stay consistent, so when she gets up we take her straight back to bed. We thought she was trying to get more attention from us so during the day we have been spending more time with her. This has not helped. Infact her behavior is getting worse in every aspect besides bedtime. Both of our patients is wearing thin, and we need some useful guidance. Please HELP!

Dear Stacey,
Keep doing what you are doing - the situation will improve. Of course, your daughter is only two, and the impulse control of a two-year-old is not particularly well developed. Too many parents move their children out of cribs too soon. Toddlers don't have the impulse control to remain in bed without some difficulty. But you're on the right track - just don't expect immediate results.
